Apple has just announced its new iPhone flagship device: the iPhone 5s.
Coming in Black, Silver and Gold on September 20th.
New 64-bit A7 Processor and M7 Sensor
The new iPhone is set to be twice as fast as the iPhone 5. With a new A7 processor, built on 64 bit architecture, the device is shipping with the all new iOS 7 software. Thankfully the device is backwards compatible with 32 bit software. There is also updated OpenGL ES 3.0 support that will allow for more graphical power.
The device packs a new M7 sensor which monitors motion in real-time, with help from the accelerometer, compass and gyroscope – a feature that’ll work nicely with fitness apps like the Nike+ Move.
New 8 MegaPixel Camera
The 8 MP camera of the iPhone 5s has a wider aperture sensor (f/2.2 vs f/2.4 of the old device), is able to capture vidoes at 120fps in 720p allowing for slow-mo capture. A True Tone LED which features 1,000 variations of color temperatures to get skin tones just right on camera is part of the devices new hardware.
The Home button of the device features a 170-micro thick fingerprint sensor that scans your thumb in 500 ppi resolution. Allowing for immediate unlocking as well as permission for store purchases using your verification. You can set the phone sensor to read multiple fingerprints, so multiple people can access the device.
The new iPhone’s price on a 2-year contract is starting at $199 for the 16GB version, 32- and 64GB models running $299 and $399, respectively. Unlocked they go for $649, $749 and $849.
