HTC Desire X is an Android smart phone manufactured by HTC Corporation. The device runs on an Android OS with Sense UI. The Device looks familiar to HTC’s flagship device, the One X. Like the One X, Desire X shares the same rounded curves but instead of having a metal unibody the Desire X has a soft touch plastic back. The 4 inch Super LCD display isn’t Gorilla glass so might want to put a screen protector on to prevent getting any scratches on it. The device takes pretty decent pictures with many features like the burst shot and image capture while recording a video. The device also has Beats Audio On-board. The device offers 4GB of internal storage with microSD up to 32 GB and 768MB of RAM.

Hardware

The HTC Desire X features a 4 inch Super LCD display with WVGA (800x480) resolution. The screen looks crisp and bright and it offers great colors. The screen is not so big and so you can actually enjoy full length movies on the display but it is good for gaming and watching Youtube videos. The touch on the device is pretty responsive and you won’t face any lags while switching screens and etc. On the top of the screen you have an earpiece along with the proximity sensor. Below the screen you have 3 physical buttons. On the top of the device you have the power key and the 3.5mm headphone jack. On the left hand side of the device you have the USB connector while on the right hand side you have the volume rocker. On the back of the device you have the 5MP camera with an LED flash which shoots videos at 490p. The device is thin and it weighs only 114g.

Software

The HTC Desire X runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich with HTC Sense 4.1 UI. Sense is one of the most extensive skins for Android devices right now. Sense not only changes the look of the operating system but also tweaks some of the core functionality. Sense aims on making Android usage a smother experience. The new version of Sense has a loner battery life as well as speed improvements over Sense 4.0 which is the previous version. The device takes better pictures in low light as it features an aperture of f2.0. Overall the 5MP camera takes great pictures with the BSI sensor. To unlock the device you have to move the ring from the bottom to the centre or you can also drag icons to the ring to quick launch any specific phone functions.

Conclusion

HTC Desire X comes pre-installed with Ice Cream Sandwich. It does not compete with the Samsung Galaxy S3 or the HTC One X but id does have a fast processor and let’s not forget it’s available at an affordable price. The display is neither too big nor too small so it’s perfect too many people. The device is gorgeous and with all the features in it including the software feature, the device is definitely worth a look.
