Here we bring you a youngster from the 2012 Xperia NXT lineup, the Xperia Sola. Being from the NXT series, the device has the same rectangular design with pointed corners, a dual core cortex A9 processor clocked at 1GHz paired with Mali 400 GPU to fulfill the graphic intensive needs of the device, 512 MB RAM, A 3.7 inches display and 5MP camera with LED flash for better low light performance
As mentioned earlier, the device is amongst the NXT series hence has the same rectangular design with sharp and pointed edges. The majority part of the front is covered by glass, the remaining part is a useless chunk with just a Xperia Logo on it. The device would have looked better if the chunk was removed. No doubt Sola is a good looking gadget, still good could have been made better. The soft back of the device is really comfortable to hold in hand, making the device a charm to hold in hand
Xperia Sola features a 3.7 inches LED-backlit LCD capacitive touchscreen that can take inputs from up to 4 fingers at a time. The display has a resolution of 480*854 pixels which leads to 265 pixels per inch. The display is protected by scratch resistant glass and is backed by Sony mobile Bravia engine for optimum display performance
The display of Xperia sola comes with a magnificent technology; the floating touch. This enables a user to use the phone without actually touching the display. It detects the finger within a 20 mm range and responds to it.
Xperia Sola is powered by a NovaThor dual core cortex A9 processor clocked at 1 GHz and a Mali 400 graphics processing unit. Both make a good couple and deliver promising performance compared to the price tag the device comes with. Last but not the least, to handle the punch from the processor, the device is equipped with 512 MB RAM. The entire bundle is ample for a low end smartphone and will play moderate games, movies and other media without a sweat.
The time is over when we had to go through an entire process just to transfer a file. All we need to do is bump. Thanks to NFC, file sharing has become a lot easier. Just bump the two devices and the file is automatically shared.
The main (Rear) camera of Xperia Sola is a 5MP shooter that is capable of recording 720p HD videos at 30 frames per second. The camera features Geo-tagging, touch focus, face and smile detection, 3D sweep panorama and image stabilization. To assist the phone in low lighting conditions, we have a LED flash. Sadly, we have no front facing camera which means no video calling.
Need to take a picture? All you have to do is SMILE. Smile detection enables the camera to detect the person smiling and automatically captures the beautiful smile. All you have to do is point towards the person and keep smile detection switched on.
Don’t have steady hands? Not a problem. The camera features image stabilization which locks the image instantly with less chances of a blur image due to shaky hands.
