As Onkyo’s top packaged system, the THX® I/S Plus™-certified HT-S9405THX boasts a speaker set to savor. All five speakers employ a two-way design with A-OMF cone woofers for superb mid-range clarity. The matching powered subwoofer delivers awesome low-end for even the most demanding music, movies, and games. As well as handling internet radio and PC audio sent over a home network, the system’s receiver offers a bevy of handy connections. Four 3D-ready HDMI® inputs take care of high-def content, such as lossless audio from Dolby or DTS, and video upscaled to spectacular 4K resolution via Qdeo™ technology. A front-panel USB input provides a digital link for iPod/iPhone audio. Other inputs let you incorporate PC video, Onkyo peripherals, and countless other playback sources. Audyssey technologies enable you to customize the soundstage, dynamics, and volume, while interactive on-screen menus let you navigate your content with ease. When it comes to all-in-one home entertainment, the HT-S9405THX oozes class from first to last.
THX Integrated System (I/S) Plus is a category for home theater systems that ensures full-blown THX performance and state-of-the-art technologies in an affordable, all-in-one receiver-speaker package. Geared to gamers and budding audiophiles, THX I/S Plus systems are ideal for small home theaters where the screen-to-seat viewing distance is approximately 2.5 meters. All components within the system—the receiver, speakers, and amplifier—are tested by THX to make sure they work harmoniously together. In addition to THX certification, each system comes with THX® Surround EX™; THX listening modes for music, movies, and games; and THX® Loudness Plus™, a volume-control technology for low-volume listening.
The HT-S9405THX offers full 4K (3840 x 2160) upscaling of standard video sources such as 480i/p, 720p, and 1080i/p. Interlaced-to-progressive conversion and scaling are performed by high-quality Qdeo technology from Marvell. Qdeo is a versatile video processor that uses algorithms designed to erase video noise and artifacts such as jaggies and feathering. Played back on a compatible wide-screen display, your Blu-ray Discs and DVDs will look more detailed and cinematic than ever.
Onkyo’s proprietary A-OMF diaphragms incorporate a PEN (polyethylene naphthalate) layer with a flexible cotton weave that helps to make them stronger and more resistant to heat. Speakers using this diaphragm type achieve improved mid-range clarity and imaging, which in turn produces an astonishingly vivid, natural sound.
All Onkyo A/V receivers are capable of carrying high-resolution 3D video formats from source devices to your 3D-capable display via HDMI.
Selected Onkyo receivers offer 4K (4096 x 2160) upscaling of standard video sources such as 480i/p, 720p, and 1080i/p. Interlaced-to-progressive conversion and scaling are performed by Qdeo video processing technology from Marvell. Qdeo uses algorithms to erase video noise and artifacts such as jaggies and feathering. Played back on a compatible wide-screen display, your content will look more detailed and cinematic than ever.
Note: 4K video playback requires a 4K-compatible TV. HDMI pass-through of 4K content from source devices is not supported. 4K upscaling of analog video is only available at 480i.
THX I/S Plus systems are ideal for small home theatres where the screen-to-seat viewing distance is approximately 2.5 meters. All components within the system—the receiver, speakers, and amplifier—are tested by THX to make sure they work harmoniously together. In addition to THX certification, each system comes with THX® Surround EX™;THX listening modes for music, movies, and games; and THX® Loudness Plus™, a new volume-control technology for low-volume listening.
Transporting high-definition (HD) video, 3D encoded HD video, and multi-channel HD audio, HDMI is the most desirable connection for home entertainment. Onkyo’s HDMI-enabled A/V components send and receive HD signals, connecting components such as Blu-ray Disc players, DVD players, media streamers, and gaming consoles to compatible HDTVs. Recent versions of HDMI also incorporate an ARC (Audio Return Channel) for sending audio from the TV tuner through the connected receiver, and for enabling the use of an overlaid high-definition GUI (Graphical User Interface) on Onkyo A/V receivers.
Dolby TrueHD is Dolby’s next-generation lossless technology developed for high-definition disc-based media. Dolby TrueHD audio is bit-for-bit identical to the highest-resolution studio masters. Together with high-definition video, it offers an unprecedented home theater experience. Now listeners can enjoy sound as stunning as the high-definition picture.
Dolby® Pro Logic® IIz
Dolby Pro Logic IIz adds a vertical dimension to your home theater soundstage, delivering an expanded surround-sound experience from any 5.1-channel or stereo source. Dolby Pro Logic IIz enables the inclusion of two Front Height speakers into your surround-sound setup. The Height channels carry ambient, non-directional audio that helps immerse you even more deeply into your movies and games. With Dolby Pro Logic IIz, rain seems to burst from clouds right above you, and helicopters fly realistically overhead.
DTS-HD Master Audio™ is capable of delivering audio that is bit-for-bit identical to the studio master. DTS-HD Master Audio™ delivers audio at super-high variable bit rates—24.5 Mbps on Blu-ray Disc—which is significantly higher than standard DVDs. This bit stream is so fast, and the transfer rate is so high, that it can deliver 7.1 audio channels at a sampling frequency of 24 bits—identical to the original. With DTS-HD Master Audio™, you will be able to experience movies and music exactly as the artist intended: clear, pure, and uncompromised.
Loudspeakers are specifically designed to deliver sound without distortion or coloration. Nevertheless, walls, furniture and other objects reflect and absorb sound, creating distortion that is unique to your own space. To counter this, Audyssey 2EQ corrects problems both in frequency response and in the time domain (where most of the problems lie), across the entire listening area. The results are immediately obvious—a clear, precise and natural sound.
Audyssey Dynamic Volume®
This technology allows you to set the volume level that you want and keep it there, without having to constantly adjust it. By anticipating sudden spikes and dips in the audio soundtrack and compensating for them in real time, Audyssey Dynamic Volume ensures consistent volume levels, regardless of the content you’re enjoying. Thanks to Audyssey Dynamic Volume, quiet dialogue is easier to pick up, loud passages retain their impact, and commercials are less intrusive.
On selected Onkyo receivers/players, interlaced-to-progressive video conversion and scaling are performed by high-quality Qdeo technology from Marvell. Qdeo is a versatile video processor that uses algorithms designed to erase video noise and artifacts such as jaggies and feathering. Played back on a compatible wide-screen display, your Blu-ray Discs and DVDs will look more detailed and cinematic than ever.
192 kHz/24-bit DACs enable the best possible reproduction of standard and high-definition audio formats.
Selected Onkyo network receivers feature Powered Zone 2. Two additional surround channels may be assigned to send an amplified audio signal via a set of cables to stereo speakers in another room. An audio source from the receiver may be played back in either or both zones, or two different audio sources played in either room simultaneously.
Onkyo’s network-ready devices employ an Ethernet or Wireless LAN connection to bring streaming audio and internet radio to your listening space. Internet radio provides a virtually limitless choice of channels with music, news, talkback, and more. Meanwhile, home network capability allows you to bring to your living room a large range of audio files stored on your PC or on an in-house media server.
Consumer electronics manufacturers established the DLNA standard to enable entertainment devices connected to a home network to share their content with one another directly, without the need for a complex set-up procedure.
Onkyo devices sporting this logo have passed Microsoft’s stringent tests to guarantee compatibility with their latest operating system, Windows 7. This compatibility allows users to stream audio content from their PC to a network-capable device.
vTuner is an easy way to find and listen to radio broadcasts over the Internet. vTuner organizes the stations into one place on your desktop, there is no need to browse the Web.
Selected Onkyo A/V receivers, Blu-ray Players, hi-fi and stereo components feature at least one USB port. ‘Made for iPod’ and ‘Made for iPhone’ means the connection is specifically designed to interface with iPod, iPod touch, and iPhone*. ‘Direct Digital Connection’ means audio signals are transported in digital form (rather than analog) for clearer, more accurate sound. A USB port also lets you play a range of audio formats including MP3, WMA, WMA Lossless, AAC, and FLAC audio files stored on a flash-memory device using the system remote for track selection and playback.
*Please refer to product information material for details about compatibility with specific Onkyo models.
For A/V receivers
Select Onkyo A/V receivers offer integrated system control with certain HDMI-compatible high-definition displays, DVD and hard-disk recorders, and Blu-ray Disc players. With one remote control, you can control certain functions, including Standby, Volume and Direct Change. These receivers can seamlessly integrate with other compatible playback components and displays.
For DVD players
RIHD also enables selected Onkyo players to easily integrate with compatible Onkyo A/V receivers and other compatible displays.
*Compatibility depends on respective model.
Onkyo’s exclusive Theater-Dimensional circuitry takes the complexity out of conventional surround-sound setups and lets you experience the excitement of surround sound from as few as two ordinary speakers.
Onkyo’s RI system lets you operate multiple RI-compatible components through a single remote control. RI capability also gives you further functionality with Onkyo’s Remote Interactive Dock for the iPod, including System On/System Off, Auto Power On, Auto Selector (Direct Change) and Timer functions.
The A-OMF speaker diaphragm fibers provide an extremely fast and accurate response. A-OMF incorporates a PEN (polyethylene naphthalate) layer with a flexible cotton weave. We then added an aramid layer to create New A-OMF.
The “Made for iPod” and “Made for iPhone” logo on selected Onkyo products means they’ve been designed specifically to interface with these Apple devices via USB port, dock, or remote Universal Port. This mutual compatibility allows the user to control playback from the Apple devices using the Onkyo system remote controller. Users can also enjoy superior sound quality, as signals are transported in digital form—rather than analog—via the direct-digital connection on selected models.
