QMobile is known for making phones with great specs (at least on paper) and mind-blowingly low prices. The Noir A500 is the perfect example of the company’s perception. Its most appealing features include the 1.2GHz Quad-core CPU and the 4.5” FWVGA LCD Display, which is neither too large, nor too small, it is just right.
It also runs Android 4.2 Jellybean, which means that the user can access and acquire all types of new features and apps such as Google Now (which is only supported for Android 4.1 and up).
Another very useful feature this phone has is the FM Radio, which most new smartphones, including the iPhone, do not have. Although this phone does not come with an array of features like other smartphones, it does provide some magnetizing specs with a compelling price.
The Noir A500 packs a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, which allows you to perform your usual tasks or play games without any lag. It has 4GB of internal storage and 512MB RAM. It supports Micro SD cards of up to 32GB, which is a great facet considering the low internal storage. This phone has a 4.5” FWVGA LCD display, which might not be the best in class but it gets the job done. The phone does not have any physical buttons on the screen, just the three standard capacitive keys. It also has the standard 3.5mm headphone jack, so most headphones should be compatible with it.
The Noir A500 has a rear camera of 5 Mega Pixels, with LED Flash, which should be sufficient for an average user. This camera is capable of HD video recording and has features like auto-focus and face detection.
The phone also has a front facing VGA camera, which can be used for video calls using your favorite apps such as Hangouts, Skype etc. Of course, being a smartphone, it comes with all the standard connectivity options including Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. The Noir A500 has Dual SIM support, meaning you can use two SIMs simultaneously. The phone has a 1800mAh battery, which can prove to be inadequate on heavy usage.
All the specs can be seen in the table at the end.
The Noir A500 runs Android 4.2 Jellybean inside. Android gives you access to the world's best customization features as well as many great apps. Given that this phone has only 512MB RAM, the performance of the overall software and apps might not be as good as indicated by the quad-core processor. This phone will be having some sort of QMobile created overlay or skin, on top of the vanilla Android. You can use almost all of your favorite apps and services on this phone, like Chrome, Gmail, Google Now, Evernote, TuneIn Radio, QuickPic etc. The Google Play Store can be used to download these apps as well as hundreds of thousands of others.
The Noir A500 might not be the best smartphone around, but it does offer a good experience with Android 4.2 Jellybean on board, and good hardware with that quad-core CPU, at a great price. If you are like me, you'll probably go for a low-end smartphone made by a more trusted and satisfactory company like Sony or HTC, instead of going for a "high-end" device by QMobile. Otherwise, you can always just look at the word QUAD-CORE, the beautiful handset itself, the price and go berserk with your cash.
