Introduction
The Sony Xperio Tipo is Sony’s latest Android phone that offers a small price to go along with its dinky like dimensions. The dual smartphone has never been this simple and hassle free before, this time targeted directly at those of you with small hands gripped tightly around tiny purses. Let’s have a glance how the baby of this family looks like. It runs Android 4.0 Ice-cream Sandwich which is definitely an excellent feature considering its specs.
The Sony Xperia Tipo is a small handset since its just 103 mm tall with a width of 57 mm. Although this smart mini gadget is comparatively thicker but having a weight of just only 100 grams it gets unnoticeable when taken out of your pocket.
The black elegant color gives the smartphone pretty impressive looks with just silver color for logos and touch buttons to differentiate and to split up the dull black look. The front comes with a glossy finish and on the bottom there is sloping cut which looks quite chic. The rubberish finish of the battery cover is quite grippy which fits quite well in the hand giving a feeling of solid built. Along with the standard touch buttons you’ll also come across hard buttons for the volume and power lock controls.
A smaller screen!!
The 3.2” touch screen is another low point with insufficient resolution and noticeably unresponsive feel. Resolution is 320 x 480 pixels which give a very cramped feeling, color are not even clear and there is a high probability of picture getting blur when you are scrolling through the menus. The small display also trends to make the onscreen keyboard a bit hard to use, especially when in portrait mode since the keys are very closely packed. Typing messages and emails is definitely a lot slower than on Android mobiles with a larger screen display.
Power & Performance
Considering the size don’t expect herculean feats from this small gadget since it runs by a single core 800MHz Snapdragon processor. Therefore, it is not meant for graphically challenging games. It’s meant more for basic daily use such as text messaging, facebook, playing a couple of simple games and browsing on websites.
Media
Provided with a limited 2.5 GB of internal storage you might think that media wasn’t on its priority list but let us tell you here Xperia Tipo is made to make your life easy. The latest apps and music are just a click away from your home screen. It labels you to create playlists and set songs as ring tones. There is FM radio on Xperia Tipo as well. Moreover, the sound quality is pretty reasonable; it features Sony’s xLoud technology which boosts up the volume by 30% when played through speaker and is distortion free as well.
On the back of Tipo is 3.2 MP camera but a major drawback is that it doesn’t incorporate flash and comes with fixed focus which can result in a lot of blurry snapshots. You just have a very limited option of settings to play with neither it has the option of front facing camera which means that video calls is out of question. It has the capability of producing 2048 x 1536 pixels resolution images. By pressing the contextual shortcut you directly access to settings, such as white balance, geotagging, metering, and capture method.
