Product Description

SkyMasters are economically-priced large aperture offerings from Celestron. They're great for both astronomy or long-range terrestrial observing.

High-powered binoculars are difficult to hold steady by hand; a monopod(and a tripod adapter if not included with the binocular) with an incorporated fluid pan/tilt head or with such a head attached between the monopod and the binocular is highly recommended.

Center focus dial
Multicoated lenses
BaK-4 Porro prisms
Rubber armoring with pebbled prism coverings
Long eye relief combined with large apparent angular field of view
Lifetime "No Fault" Warranty Coverage
Celestron binoculars, excluding the digital VistaPix series, include their wonderful "No Fault" warranty coverage, which assures that your binoculars will be repaired or replaced at Celestron's option for as long as you own them-no questions asked!  The only requirements on the user's end are to ship the binoculars(at the user's cost) to Celestron with a proof of purchase and a check or money order for $25 to cover the costs of inspection, shipping and handling.  This warranty service is valid only for USA and Canadian citizens purchasing from an authorized Celestron dealer.

  1. Good binocular for the price but...

Posted by Unknown on 4th Dec 2014

There are two aspects to this review. First is the Celestron SkyMaster 15x70 binocular itself, second is experience with homeshopping.pk and their import method.

    Pros:
The binocular itself is overall good quality as expected from a reputable brand like Celestron. These big binoculars are usually used for stargazing but can also be used just like any regular binocular. The build quality is nice. Provides clear, sharp and bright views because of large size of lenses. The field of view is great. The lenses are coated. The calibration of prisms and front lenses seems to be right.

    Cons:
The calibration of di-opter adjustment is faulty and it stops short of few millimeters of achieving the precise focus in right eyepiece no matter how much you calibrate. Fortunately, the binocular is not fully unusable for people with good eyesight. But it seems to be a major quality control issue.
It is heavy to hold by hand for more than few minutes.

Experience of purchasing from HSN was not so pleasant because it took 57 days to reach doorstep. I know there can be unlimited reasons (as provided to me by HSN support) but still, it is very unprofessional to take about 4 times more time than it is written on the product page, considering the price paid. I hope HSN will consider this feedback and will improve their service and support.

Mine was faulty and I know there is a return policy. But I did not want to probably wait forever by using return procedure after the order itself took 57 days.
