Forza Horizon 2 is an open-world racing video game developed for Microsoft's Xbox One and Xbox 360 consoles. It is the sequel to 2012's Forza Horizon and the seventh instalment in the Forza series.
Forza Horizon 2 — offered on Xbox Live Games With Gold until Aug. 31 — has reached the end of its lifespan and will be removed from the Xbox Marketplace on Oct. 1, Turn 10 announced on Friday.
This means — especially for those who subscribe to Xbox Live Gold — players better pick up the 2014 open-world racer and any DLC they may want up now, because it’ll all be gone in 42 days.
After Sept. 30, those who have downloaded the game or any of its DLC will still be able to do so later; it just won’t be available as a new purchase to anyone else.
RELATED
Forza Horizon 2 review: road not takenLicensing may have something to do with it, as well as the Oct. 2 launch of Forza Horizon 4. The first Forza Horizon, which launched in 2012, was also retired four years after its launch, and around the time Forza Horizon 3 launched in fall 2016.
Our 2014 review of Forza Horizon 2 was impressed with the driving action, and certainly found a lot to do within its open world, but we were underwhelmed by the racing courses themselves. Still, this is a racing game with a ton to do in it, and for Xbox Gold subscribers, a free one at that. It might be a good idea to set a reminder to pick it up before Aug. 31.
