Although their dramatic new look may suggest a radical departure from convention, Studio 180 floor-standing loudspeakers deliver the dynamic range, tonal accuracy and spatial transparency that have long set JBL systems apart. With midrange and high-frequency transducers mounted at the ear level of a seated listener, they deliver more direct sound with fewer unwanted reflections. The rigid, heavily braced enclosure includes a rear-facing bass port for extended bass response. The enclosure itself, available in a silver-tinted black finish, incorporates the distinctive JBL Weave design for a dynamic, one-of-a-kind look.

Accurate and detailed high frequencies
For the most detailed sound quality from your music or movies, the JBL® Studio 180 loudspeakers feature a patented CMMD® Lite tweeter dome with a proprietary Bi-Radial® waveguide. CMMD Lite starts with a dome of aluminum that is sandwiched on either side with ceramic. Its design is strong enough to hold its shape when moving rapidly, while light enough to effectively eliminate any unwanted resonance.

And when it comes to competitive materials, they just don't stack up. CMMD Lite is more than 200 times stronger than polypropylene, and it's even three times stronger than titanium. Pair this with a weight that is actually 30 percent lighter than titanium, and you have a tweeter than can deliver all the subtle details that make for an extraordinary listening experience.

To make sure that listening to the JBL Studio 180 loudspeakers is a great experience anyplace where you happen to be listening in the room, they use proprietary Bi-Radial® waveguides around the tweeter. This waveguide ensures a wide dispersion of the high frequencies throughout the room while keeping them both accurate and natural-sounding. The result? A greatly expanded "sweet spot" for the most realistic sound experience possible.
Natural sounding vocals
A high-performance midrange driver is key for reproducing the vocals with the realism that is critical for the best listening experience possible. Using a patented driver material for the 4-inch midrange PolyPlas™ driver, the Studio 180's midrange sounds both smooth and natural while keeping the accuracy necessary for a true movie theater or concert experience. PolyPlas is engineered to be both stiff and lightweight, and along with a cloth surround, the midrange driver reproduces vocals with incredible accuracy. In fact, the midrange is so critical on the Studio 180s that the midrange driver is actually housed in a separate sub-enclosure to isolate its sound from the woofers, improving overall clarity.

Bass you don't just hear, but feel
The JBL® brand name is synonymous with bass, so it's important that the Studio 180s deliver rich, deep bass response, even from a slim, compact footprint. To accomplish this, the Studio 180s use the same patented PolyPlas™ driver material for both 6-inch woofer that is used in the midrange. As with the midrange driver, the strength and the light weight of the PolyPlas material allow for outstanding bass response that will surprise you that it is coming out of a tower loudspeaker as sleek as the 180's. The 6-inch woofer also features a rubber surround that dissipates heat and minimizes distortion, even at high listening levels. This makes them perfect for cranking up when you truely want to turn your living room into a cinematic home theater experience.
