LG ranks among the best smartphone companies in the world. Their flagship phones are the talk of the town all round the year. This year at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 16, held in Barcelona, they unveiled the astounding LG G5 at the very first day of the global event. This beast of a device has got everything you can expect from a flagship phone. Added to which it comes with a couple of new and exciting features. With the LG G5 out in the world, tech gurus, and fans have already set their watch counting days till the next flagship, LG G6 comes out. In this post are going to discuss the possible LG G6 release date, price, specifications, rumors and concepts. The post is aimed at giving you a basic idea of what to expect from the upcoming LG flagship phone.
We are going to go in details about the phone, in terms of its design, hardware, display, processor and storage, OS and interface, camera, battery, connectivity and sensor options, etc.
The latest LGG5 has got a completely new look compared to its predecessors. It’s worth remembering that the G4 curved leather body while G5 sports an all metal body with a premium look and feel. For all the changes done, we feel that the round backside of the device could be polished and stylized. Also LG seem to have omitted the slight ‘lip’ design surrounding the display found in the previous versions of the phone. Besides these, we hope LG could do away with its ugly looking camera bulge. We hope the Korean company would look into these.
With the unveiling of G5, the company introduced the first ever modular smartphone to the world. It allows users to take out the bezel found underneath the screen and then inserts a variety of optional “modules”. The company calls it “Friends” and it doesn’t come pre-installed. This has really given LG an edge over its rivals. There are two “Friends” available for users that come along with two accessories. The accessories include “LG 360 VR” that brings virtual reality experience to its users. Here we found, there are a number of scoped for improvement. Also adding some more modules will enhance the user’s experience.
While LG has decreased the screen size of G5 it has kept the 2560 x 1440 screen resolution same. But rumors has it that they are once again going to bring back the large screen – 5.7-inches with a screen resolution of 2800 x 1800 with 584 pixels per inch. We hope the LG 6 retains the “Always-On Display” feature and the Corning Gorilla Glass 4 features. Although many believe the next LG flagship will have 4K display but as of now, that seems rather unlikely.
The latest LG 5 phone comes with quad-core Snapdragon 820 processor along with two low-power cores clocked at 1.59 GHz and two high-performance cores clocked at 2.15 GHz. We’ve heard words that the maker of this SoC, Qualcomm is currently working on a chipset. If G6 is launched around the time the chip comes out then we’d like that to feature in the smartphone. And if the LG G6 comes with Snapdragon 830 SoC then the device will support 8Gb RAM and 64 GB inbuilt storage capacity.
It pretty obvious that a company’s flagship phone will have the latest Operating System. While LGG5 runs on the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow and LG 6 is sure to come with next version of the Android OS – Android 7.0 N. Google had revealed a couple of new features of the upcoming Android at the MWC 16.
We have noted that the South Korean electronics company has already made some changes in the UI and has done away with the ‘app drawer’. And now, news is that Google is planning to the same change in Android. LG 6 will probably have a simplistic look with minimal approach in a more upgraded manner.
Talking of camera, the LG G6 has to deliver fans with excellent camera facility. Fans are pretty excited about it. With LG 5 introducing a dual-rear camera for the first time in a flagship, we expect that the LG G6 will feature 16-megapixels rear camera that can be increased to 21-megapixels with video recording options at [email protected], [email protected], HDR for the rear cameras and [email protected] for the selfie camera.
The LG G5 features a 2800mAh battery but since the G6 is going to support 1 5.7-inch display, it’ll probably come with 3100mAh battery for increased battery capacity. The battery features Type-C USB and supports Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 standard which means the phone is get charged to 80% in just about 30-35 minutes. Although these days most batteries are non-removable, we hope the G6 is a removable battery.
The present LG flagship already comes with finger sensors for security measures, so expectation is that the G6 will have Retina Scanning Sensors. Alongside LG 6 will have compass, barometer, gyro, accelerometer, proximity, color spectrum etc.
As far as connectivity is concerned, the LG G6 is going to be a (Nano) dual SIM phone and will feature LTE for the first time in the company’s history. Other connectivity options include, Bluetooth v4.2, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Wi-Fi Direct, dual-band, hotspot, DLNA, A2DP, LE, apt-X, GPS, NFC, A-GPS and Infrared.
Like we already said, LG had launched its present flagship LG G5 in the Mobile World Conference (MWC) 2016 in Barcelona earlier this year. Judging by that, the next flagship LG G6 will very possibly be unveiled in the MWC 2017 and shipped off to world market by the mid-week of April in 2017.
