Product Description

Laney Cub 12R · Guitar Amp

The Laney CUB 12R adds an onboard digital reverb to the Laney Cub 12 guitar combo amp.

The all-valve Class AB Push/Pull circuitry Laney CUB 12R valve guitar amp features two input sockets, one for a gig-ready full 15-watts RMS output and the second for a home practice friendly less than 1-watt RMS output level of classic valve amp tones. The less than 1-watt input drives the power amp section hard for overdriven valve tones. The all-valve Laney CUB 12R guitar amp features three ECC83/12AX7 preamp valves driving a pair of EL84 output valves for a more scooped tone than the Cub 8 and Cub 10 combos. Additional features include Reverb, Gain, Treble, Middle, Bass traditional passive tone controls, Volume and Tone controls, plus 8-16 Ohm extension speaker cabinet socket.

This Laney amplifier provides vintage good looks with black leatherette vinyl, distinctive brown and black front, chocolate brown control panel and cream chicken head knobs. The base of the Laney's cabinet is fitted with a special Tilting Mechanism, allowing the cabinet to be used in the upright or tilted back position.

In push-pull circuitry, two output valves are connected in such a way that while the current in one valve is increasing, it is decreasing in the other. The two signals are then combined in an output transformer and passed on to the speakers. Push-Pull circuitry delivers more output power than single-ended designs. Class AB output design is sort of a combination of Class A and Class B operation where the amplifier operates in Class A for only a portion of its output and turns on additional current in the valves devices for the remainder. Class AB is more efficient and delivers highter output power than Class A circuitry.

The speaker in the new Cub is now the HH1265. This is a modification that Laney themselves have done as the new HH speaker is better suited to the Cub amps.
