The Foundation of Onkyo Sound

Separates Construction

Our design philosophy considers how each individual component interacts with the others, and the effects on audio and video performance. Therefore, the separates inside the receiver (the pre-amp and the amp) are designed so that the power amplifier block and the pre-amplifier coexist, but are perfectly isolated. Furthermore, the circuit boards are fixed to the chassis so that vibrations from the base are suppressed.

Three-Stage Inverted Darlington Circuitry

A pristine analog waveform is sent for amplification by Onkyo's efficient Three-Stage Inverted Darlington Circuitry, which incorporates a low negative feedback design and conducts more sublimely natural sound. Three-Stage Inverted Darlington Circuitry is designed for high-energy output, and is used on all channels to handle reference-level playback with very low distortion.

This abundance of clean power, advanced processing technology, and generous build specification will drive your home entertainment to previously unimagined dimensions.

Wide Range Amplifier Technology

At the core of Onkyo's Signature sound is Onkyo's proprietary Wide Range Amplifier Technology (WRAT). This innovative amplifier design is comprised of three key elements: (1) a low negative feedback design for punchy, true-to-life sound, and cleaner audio across the frequency ranges; (2) closed groundloop circuits to reduce individual circuit noise and keep the ground potential free of distortion; and (3) a high instantaneous current to handle big dynamic gains.

From the quietest dialog passages to booming action scenes, Onkyo's exclusive WRAT amp technology dramatically enhances the audio dynamics of your movies, music and games like you've never before experienced.

Take a look at the TX-NR929's WRAT features here.

HDMI for 4K Passthrough, Upscaling & High Resolution Playback

9 HDMI Inputs (1 Front/8 Rear) and 2 Outputs

Qdeo technology from Marvell upscales standard video to silky-smooth 1080p (for regular HDTVs) and to an incredible 4K on compatible displays. Also, this receiver will passthrough 4K resolution from compatible source devices.

The TX-NR929 features nine HDMI inputs to accept hi-res content from your media players and gaming consoles. HDMI enables Dolby® TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio audio formats, and supports 3D video. Two HDMI outputs are included for high-definition video in two separate zones (one supports Audio Return Channel, so you can boost your TV's sound through your receiver).

Zone 2 HDMI Out for High-Def Video in 2 Rooms

With Zone 2 HDMI Out, you can send hi-def content to a second TV without having to purchase another Blu-ray player or any other settop box. Connect your additional display using the receiver's Zone 2 HDMI output to watch the same program, or a different one, in two different rooms.

Powerful Bass AND Clear Vocals

Phase-Matching Bass optimizes low frequenciesand preserves mid-range clarity. This means that powerful bass plays back with clear vocals; it doesn't overpower them.

Onkyo's PM Bass boost technology improves the phase timing to preserve the natural clarity of the mid-range, and allows vocals and strings to shine while maintaining a smooth, powerful bass response at all volume levels.

Music from Everywhere Sounds Even Better Through an Onkyo

The TX-NR929 comes pre-loaded with the most popular music streaming and internet radio services including Spotify, Last.fm, and TuneIn Radio. They're easily selectable using the receiver's GUI or Onkyo remote control app.

Explore more than 10,000 radio stations and enjoy albums and playlists with theater fidelity sound.

Quick & Easy Remote Control App

The Onkyo remote control app for iPod touch®/iPhone,® Android, and Kindle devices is a convenient way to control your home entertainment from anywhere within wireless range. The app has a clear graphical interface to control playback, adjust settings and handle content across multiple zones.

The app serves hi-res, lossless, and compressed audio files (including 192 kHz/24-bit FLAC, DSD, and Dolby® TrueHD) to the TX-NR929 from your mobile devices, and gives it stunning sound.

MHL™ & InstaPrevue for Easy Video Switching

MHL displays your mobile's 1080p video and other media on your HDTV with 7.1 channels of surround sound.

InstaPrevue™ technology names your HDMI sources and then displays live video thumbnails of available content. Switch sources easily, with just a glance. No need to remember what's connected to which port.

Audyssey Technology for Superior Sound

Audyssey MultEQ®XT32 room-correction technology equalizes the sound as it is effected by bouncing off of walls and furniture in your home theater space. It works by making adjustment in both the frequency response and time domain across the entire listenting area. The results are immediate and obvious: it delivers clear, well-balanced, natural sound.

Audyssey Dynamic EQ® maintains consistent bass, tonal and surround sound effects at different volume levels.

Audyssey Dynamic Volume® automatically compensates for volume fluctuations, for example during loud commercial breaks.

Three HIgh Performance Surround Expansion Systems

DTS Neo:X offers Wides and Heights and supports 11.1-channel upmixing with the addition of an outboard stereo amp.

Dolby Pro Logic IIz adds striking vertical dimensions to your soundstage, expanding the surround-sound from 5.1-channel or stereo sources to 7.1 channels. Front Height channels carry ambient, non-directional audio which immerses you further into the enhanced spaciousness of your music, movies and video games.

Audyssey DSX expands 5.1-channel sources to incorporate Wide or Height channels, expanding the width of the soundstage, or adds two Front Height speakers for a more vertical dimension to movies and games.

Overlaid Menus for Quick Adjustments

The Quick Set-Up button on your remote puts menus over the program you're watching to switch inputs or change a settings without interrupting your viewing.

Similarly, the Home Menu button calls up simple icons for choosing a media source and menus for system settings
