The Panasonic DMW-FL580L External Flash is a shoe-mounted unit compatible with Panasonic TTL that features a powerful guide number of 190' at ISO 100. This flash is designed to work with Micro Four Thirds lenses with a focal length between 12-100mm, or a 35mm equivalent of 24-200mm. A major feature of this unit is the LED light, capable of running continuously for use during video recording.
The LED offers good illumination of 100 lux at 3.3' and can be used with the flash. The flash head itself offers numerous features, including the ability to tilt from -7 to +90° and rotate 180° for bouncing the flash. There is also wireless control for 4 channels and 3 groups.
For operation, it utilizes 4 AA Ni-MH or alkaline batteries that provide recycle times of about 1.7 or 2.7 seconds respectively. The DMW-FL580L also includes a diffuser cap as well as warming and infrared filters.
- Approximately 125 flashes with alkaline batteries and 175 with Ni-MH batteries
- AF-assist lamp has a range of 3.3-16.4' for camera operation in low-light conditions
- Wide-angle panel allows for use with lenses as wide as 7mm, or a 35mm equivalent of 14mm
- LED light will run for 170 minutes with alkaline batteries or 240 minutes with Ni-MH batteries
