The Schoeps DZC 10 Attenuator is designed to be used when very high sound pressure levels are to be expected (considerably more than 120 dB). It raises the maximum sound pressure level that a Colette modular system microphone can transmit without distortion by about 10 dB. The DZC 10 is screwed directly onto an MK microphone capsule (sold separately) and can be used in combination with Schoeps microphone amplifiers or active accessories such as the CUT low-cut filter (sold separately).
The use of two DZC 10 units on one microphone will result in an attenuation of only about 15 dB due to the capacitive principle of operation. If an attenuation level of 20 dB is desired, a DZC 20 (sold separately) should be used.
Using this accessory pad increases not only the maximum sound pressure level, but also the equivalent noise level. Combined with an MK 4 cardioid capsule, the DZC 10 raises the level by 3 dB-A.
